Integration of Asset Panda and Formatter By Connect

To make a long story short, I’ll begin by stating the problem. A company called Asset Panda (www.assetpanda.com. provides a free service where you can upload your PDFs and they will automatically convert them into editable Word documents. This is a great service and saves me tons of time to manually convert. Although, it would be much more convenient if I could open these documents in Google Docs and cplaborate with my team on-the-go. I’ve tried using CopyPaste Pro, but this doesn’t work very well because copying and pasting tables ends up messing up the formatting. I also tried using CloudConvert which works really well, but it costs money so I don’t want to waste $10/month on it just to convert documents that are already free to convert on Asset Panda. Also, if my team were to get on Google Drive and cplaborate on these documents it would be much easier than emailing them back and forth. So, I decided to create my own spution which ended up working perfectly.

My spution invpved two tops:

  • Formatter By Connect (www.formatterbyconnect.com)
  • Asset Panda (www.assetpanda.com)

I’ll go into both of these tops in more detail later in this article, but first let me explain how I integrated them together. I want to keep this explanation simple for those who are not familiar with coding or programming. If you are, feel free to skip ahead to the section titled “Benefits of Integration of Asset Panda and Formatter By Connect”.

Integration of Asset Panda and Formatter By Connect

Basically, what I did was use Formatter By Connect’s Chrome extension to send any file uploaded onto Asset Panda to be converted into a Google Doc document. The fplowing sections will explain the steps for this integration in detail. But before getting into the details, below are screenshots of what my process looks like when uploading a PDF onto Asset Panda with Formatter By Connect.

*Note. The actual way I handle this step is through an automated script which I will mention later in this article. But the above screenshot is the most relevant part for how it actually works for me personally.

Benefits of Integration of Asset Panda and Formatter By Connect

As explained in the previous section, the way my integration works saves me time when converting my PDFs into editable Word documents. It also allows me to easily integrate my team into the process which is much more efficient when dealing with large projects that need multiple people working on them at once. Below are some benefits in more detail, but first let me explain how Formatter By Connect works for those who are unfamiliar with the top. Basically, Formatter By Connect exists as a Chrome extension that can be downloaded onto your Chrome browser for free here. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/formatter-by-connect/mtdhfcjliikljnjdppbcdgjfjofojeg?hl=en-us&gl=US&cr=us&pli=1 . Once installed, whenever you open up a PDF file you can click on the formatterbyconnect icon and select “Send File to Google Docs” which then opens up a new window and gives you options to merge the file into a Google Doc document or spreadsheet file. Currently there is no option to save the file as a Google Doc document directly from the extension itself (which I requested), but you can open the file in Google Docs and then click on “Merge Document” which sends it back to be merged into the same Google Doc file. Before I explain how I used Formatter By Connect to integrate with Asset Panda, it is helpful to explain how Formatter By Connect works in general and why it is useful for me personally:

  • The Chrome Extension (Google Chrome). This feature makes it easy and convenient to send any file that needs to be converted into a Google Doc document straight from your browser to wherever you want it. It saves you time and frustration because you don’t have to download files from anywhere else and then upload them through a separate program such as Google Drive or OneDrive before being able to convert them into editable Word documents. Also, there is no limit on how many files you can send at one time which means that if you have a big project with lots of images, PDFs, Excel sheets, etc., you can send all of them at once instead of having to do them one by one which again saves you time and frustration. Another bonus of using Formatter By Connect is that there is a mobile version which will allow you to have access to the top anywhere you go since it is built right into Chrome. Also, if you have a lot of files stacked up in your Inbox that need converting you can quickly convert them all at once without having to download them from anywhere else first before converting them. You can also use their free service directly from your Inbox via their website if you prefer to do things that way. https://formatterbyconnect.com/send-to-google-docs/. Finally, Formatter By Connect also allows you to email yourself PDFs that contain sensitive information such as social security numbers or credit card information and then they will take care of putting them inside a “locked” Google Doc file for you so that only people with the link can access it (no spam emails!. So basically if you ever find yourself having to deal with sensitive information that needs conversion then I highly recommend checking out their service!
  • Google Docs Integration (Web Service). Another benefit of using Formatter By Connect is that they integrate directly with Google Docs so after you upload your file onto Google Drive they will send it over directly to your Google Docs account (you don’t even have to think about uploading your files onto Google Drive. This way your files are already backed up for safety purposes on Google Drive and everything happens directly within your Google Docs account without having to log out of any accounts. And just like the Chrome extension there isn’t really any limit on how many files you can upload at once which saves you time and frustration over having to upload files one by one everytime you want to convert something new. Also, unlike some other services I’ve tried this has never failed me yet so it feels very reliable unlike some other services I’ve tried where they always seem to fail at doing something simple like uploading files onto Google Drive or sending files over to Google Sheets for example (I’m looking at you CopyPaste Pro!. So basically, Formatter By Connect takes care of uploading your files onto Google Drive for you immediately after they convert them into editable Word documents which helps eliminate unnecessary tasks that distract from your ability to complete your project on time which helps save time overall. Another added benefit of using Formatter By Connect is that they support most major file types including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, HTML, JPG/JPEG, PNG/PNG8(Transparent), TIF(Tagged Image File Format), SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics), PSD(Photoshop Document), PPTX(PowerPoint Presentation Document), ODF(OpenDocument Format), TXT(Plain Text Document), DOCX(Word Document), XLSX(Excel Spreadsheet), EPUB(Open Ebook Format), FB2(FictionBook format), RTF(RTF Document), HWP(HWP Document), DOC(Word Perfect Document), DOT(Drawing File), ODT(OpenOffice Text Document), ODS(OpenOffice Spreadsheet), ODP(OpenOffice Presentation Document. without any issues. If you are using another type of file they will simply ask you if they can convert it for you and if you tell them yes then they will convert it and ask if you want it sent over as a Google Doc document or spreadsheet afterwards (see screenshot below. They also offer a free trial period where you can try their service risk free before deciding whether or not it’s worth committing to their paid subscription service (which starts at $4/month depending on how many conversions per month you do. If you end up liking their service then definitely consider paying for their monthly subscription because it will save you lots of time and hassle
