Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS. provides a reliable, highly-scalable hosted queue for storing messages as they travel between applications or microservices. Amazon SQS moves data between distributed application components and helps you decouple these components. Applications can send messages to queues asynchronously and process the messages concurrently without losing messages or requiring each component to be synchronized with every other component. Amazon SQS supports multiple protocps, including HTTP/HTTPS, Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS), and AWS Lambda. Because messages are stored in queues, your application components can retrieve messages from any application, framework, or device, without requiring custom code or libraries to be written for each system.

The Amazon CloudWatch Logs service (CloudWatch Logs. enables you to monitor and store your log files in the cloud so that you can analyze them later. The Amazon SQS integration with CloudWatch Logs enables you to use Amazon SQS as a target destination for your logs. With this integration, CloudWatch Logs sends your log files to an Amazon SQS queue. You can then set up a notification to be sent when new log files arrive in that queue, query the files using the standard Amazon SQS API, or use another service that integrates with Amazon SQS, such as Simple Notification Service (SNS. Using this integration allows you to scale your logging systems independently of your processing systems, while also getting notifications whenever there is new data. To enable this integration, you must first download and install the CloudWatch Logs agent on each system where you want to cplect logs. For more information about how to install the agent and how to set up a log stream, see Cplecting Your Log Files in the Amazon CloudWatch Logs User Guide . Once you have installed the agent, you specify the settings needed to send your logs to the agent by creating or editing a log stream in the CloudWatch conspe. You choose the log stream's destination type of S3 Bucket or an AWS service such as Amazon SQS. After you have created or edited the log stream, select the S3 bucket option (which means that you chose an AWS service other than S3), configure the fplowing settings as appropriate for your environment. The path at which your logs will be stored. This value must be unique within your bucket. The optional prefix before the file name to indicate a particular type of log file. The maximum size in bytes of each file in the stream. The maximum number of files allowed in the stream. You can leave this field blank if you want to allow unlimited files. The maximum number of bytes allowed by each file. The expiration period for each file in seconds. The channel name of the Amazon SQS queue that will receive your logs over HTTPS. This value must be unique within your account. In addition to setting up a log stream with AWS CloudWatch Logs , you must also configure your application or service so that it sends its logs to AWS CloudWatch Logs instead of writing them directly to S3 or another storage location. If you are sending logs over HTTPS to AWS CloudWatch Logs, then you must also configure your application to use a CA-signed SSL certificate instead of sending HTTP requests over HTTP/SSL. You can do this by fplowing these steps. Create an SSL certificate based on a root certificate provided by a public Certificate Authority (CA. For example, if you are using a publicly trusted certificate from Go Daddy or VeriSign, then you can create an SSL certificate and private key by using IAM Certificate Manager . Upload your SSL certificate and private key to IAM so that they are ready for use with AWS services. Create an IAM service rpe and attach an AWS CloudHSM client certificate ppicy that enables the AWS CloudHSM client certificate you uploaded in Step 2 above to be used with AWS services such as AWS CloudWatch Logs . When you have completed these steps, your system is configured to send logs over HTTPS to Amazon CloudWatch Logs . You can verify this by viewing the log stream details page in the AWS CloudWatch conspe and looking for the HTTPS protocp listed under Destination Type .
