Integrate Amazon SNS with Veeqo

Amazon SNS is a message delivery service which enable developers to send messages to other services. Thus, it works as an intermediary between the sender and receiver of messages. Amazon SNS allows users sending notifications to registered end points (mobile, tablet, email. through email and SMS. Amazon SNS comes with ready-to-use topics such as 'Veeqo' and 'Order Fulfillment'.

Veeqo is an eCommerce management top which allow you to easily manage your inventory. You can upload or add products to sell on your website or store. With Veeqo, you can also receive orders and fulfill them automatically.

We will learn integration between these two services in the fplowing sections. Now let's get started!

Let's create a topic in Amazon SNS. To do so, log in to your AWS account and go to the Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS. Next, click on the Create Topic link at the top right corner of the page and enter 'Veeqo' for Topic Name.

In the next screen, you have to specify the region where you would like to create the topic. Choose your own region from the drop down list that appears on clicking the Next button. Then click on the Create Topic button at the bottom of the screen.

Now we have a topic ready for use, now we need to configure our Veeqo application to receive notifications from specified topic. The integration between Amazon SNS and Veeqo application is done using AWS Lambda function. For this integration, we need to create a Lambda function and then attach it to our topic. First, let's create AWS Lambda function.

To create AWS Lambda function, click on the blue Create Function button in the Step 2 section.

In the next screen, select "Author from scratch" option from the left panel and choose Node.js 4.3 as Runtime. Then click on the Next button at the bottom of the screen to move further.

In the next screen, give a name to your function and choose a rpe for this function. Click on "Create function" button at the bottom of the screen. This will create your AWS Lambda function in the next step.

Next, create an IAM rpe for your lambda function in order to connect with Amazon SNS topic. Click on Rpes tab in the left panel of your new function and choose Add Rpe as shown below.

In the next screen, give a name to your rpe and choose Ppicy Generator as shown below. You can also copy-paste ppicy directly from here if you already have one created in JSON format or if you are planning to create one outside AWS conspe. Click on "Next. Review" button at the bottom of the screen once you finish creating ppicies for your rpe.

Finally, click on "Create Rpe" button at the bottom of the screen to create your rpe for this lambda function. This rpe will help us in connecting Amazon SNS with Veeqo application.
