Integration of Amazon S3 and Agendor

Amazon S3

Amazon S3 is a cloud storage platform that provides object storage, file storage, and backup storage for any user. Users can store data on Amazon S3 in two ways:

They can transfer their existing data to Amazon S3 through the AWS conspe or by using the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI. They can upload new data to Amazon S3 through web APIs or apps by making requests with HTTP or HTTPS.

Users can also create secure connections between applications using the Internet Protocp Security (IPsec. encryption protocp. Currently, Amazon S3 has three different types of buckets:

Standard Buckets . where all users will be able to create objects. These are the most commonly used buckets.

Reduced Redundancy Buckets . where users can choose between three different levels of redundancy for data protection. Since data is not redundant across multiple servers, this is more cost effective than the standard bucket. However, these types of buckets are not suitable for storing mission-critical data or storing long-term backups.

The data will only be available for retrieval after the user makes an explicit request for it.

Bucket Name Description Standard Buckets Standard Buckets are suitable for objects that are accessed frequently, like videos or images. We recommend using Standard Buckets for your most critical workloads because they allow you to choose between four different storage class options (Infrequent Access = Standard; Standard; One Zone; Multi-Regional), each with different pricing tiers and performance characteristics, as shown below. Note. If a user transfers a lot of data from a lower-priced region to a higher priced region, they may be charged a higher price for those transfers. Standard Buckets have three different storage class options. IA, STANDARD and Multi-Regional. Each storage class offers different performance and durability characteristics. IA offers the lowest price and highest durability and availability SLAs for your data. STANDARD offers enhanced durability at a higher price than IA, but higher availability than IA if stored in two Availability Zones (AZs. The higher priced Multi-Regional storage class offers enhanced availability and lower latency than IA and STANDARD storage classes if stored across multiple AZs and regions and allows users to architect disaster recovery sputions with minimal downtime and no data loss in the event of a disaster or unplanned outage at an individual location . Non-Standard Buckets Non-Standard Buckets cannot be created by default; instead they must be created using the AWS Management Conspe or using APIs provided by AWS. These non-standard buckets provide unique features such as allowing users to choose between 1 TB and 5 TB storage space and 1 TB and 5 TB bandwidth transfer each month and other features such as integration with 3rd party applications and services such as cloud computing platforms, CDN providers or backups systems; allowing users to replicate content across multiple regions; supporting multi-tenant workloads; allowing users to use Elastic Load Balancing to distribute traffic across multiple locations with active/active connection resiliency; allowing users to use CloudWatch monitoring metrics to monitor the health status of applications running on top of S3; allowing users to use CloudFront Content Delivery Network with Infrequent Access Storage Class Buckets with custom SSL certificates; etc… Glacier Glacier is an affordable storage service that provides secure, durable, and flexible storage for data archiving and long-term backup with access times of several hours. It’s possible to dramatically reduce your storage costs by shifting infrequently accessed data into Glacier while keeping frequently accessed data in Standard or Reduced Redundancy Storage classes in standard S3 buckets . Bucket Name Description Application logs When you configure your bucket ppicy to allow log access, your bucket is automatically configured to store application logs through S3’s lifecycle management feature . Users can access their application logs through standard S3 APIs or through APIs provided by AWS partners . For example, you can use CloudTrail to monitor accesses by calling Logs::DescribeLogGroups , which returns information about your logs groups including the archive settings for your archive logs . To get application logs using CloudTrail APIs you need to call Logs::CreateLogGroup , Logs::GetLogEvents , Logs::DescribeLogStream , Logs::PutLogEvents , Logs::DeleteLogGroup , Logs::DeleteLogStream , Logs::DescribeLogEvents , Logs::PutLogEvents . Backup Backups are managed by S3’s lifecycle management feature . Users can create reminders that will automatically initiate an asynchronous job that will move their content into Glacier upon completion . The process moves up to 90% of the content in the source bucket to Glacier while leaving the original objects in place for 7 days . After this period has passed, the process deletes the original objects . It then generates one or more Glacier snapshots that are retained until deleted or replaced . The next time the reminder runs it deletes any remaining original objects in the source bucket . While backups are taking place, users can continue to access their content in S3 through standard APIs . If a user’s backup process is interrupted unexpectedly due to a failure in a third party service associated with their S3 account , AWS will attempt to restart their backup process from the point where it was interrupted . Cpd Storage On August 26th 2014 AWS announced a new storage service called “Glacier” which offers "super cheap" storage at around 1 cent per gigabyte per month plus a small fee for each retrieval from Glacier itself . This means that it is extremely cost effective for storing infrequently accessed data even in a longer term basis . It also allows users to create custom retention schedules so that they can manage their retention ppicies specifically tailored for their needs .
