Amazon DynamoDB offers the fplowing storage classes:

General Purpose (GP1. – For any application that requires consistent low latency at any scale. This storage class provides high throughput capacity at the cost of low provisioned capacity.

Provisioned IOPS (PIOPS. – For any application that requires consistently low latency at any scale with the ability to burst above the baseline provisioned throughput level at higher cost. This storage class provides high IOPS capacity at the cost of low throughput capacity.

Throughput Optimized (TO. – For any application that requires consistent high throughput at any scale. This storage class provides high throughput capacity at the cost of low provisioned capacity.

Archival – For any application where durability and long-term retention is more important than consistency or throughput. This storage class provides very low cost, but offers lower performance than Provisioned IOPS and General Purpose. Archival is best suited for infrequently accessed data that is stored for many years. It is not recommended for applications that require immediate access to information stored in this storage class. Archival supports all data models except JSON.
