Integration of Amazon CloudWatch and Spotify

Spotify is a Swedish commercial music streaming service, launched in 2008. Spotify allows users to create and share playlists, on which works using the “Spotify” client app. In July 2015, the company launched Spotify for Artists, a service that provides artists with statistics such as the number of times their songs were played, daily listener figures and top country. Spotify pays royalties based on the number of artists streamed within an hour and offers them other services. There are more than 30 million tracks available for stream on Spotify.

Amazon CloudWatch is a monitoring service from Amazon Web Services (AWS. It allows users to cplect, track and manage metrics on their applications and AWS itself. It cplects data from other cloud-based services, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2. and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3. CloudWatch uses customizable rules to send notifications to administrators and developers about significant state changes. It also provides automatic scaling of resources through the use of autoscaling groups.

Accessing the audio files uploaded on Amazon S3 provides information about the music streamed by users. The data cplected by Amazon CloudWatch is used to identify the number of plays, the number of listens and other statistical information about the music that is played. This information helps Spotify with its royalty calculations. Amazon CloudWatch can also be used to track the number of listeners, which allows Spotify to contrp how many listeners are listening to each song.

Spotify uses Amazon CloudWatch to identify how many people listen to each song, which enables it to calculate royalties accordingly.
