It allows to cplect, store, analyze and visualize the data generated by these resources. Moreover, it offers many integrations with other AWS services like Auto Scaling, VPC (Virtual Private Cloud. and RDS (Relational Database Service.
Microsoft Exchange is an email server that enables users to manage their emails, contacts and calendars in a centralized manner. The device can be accessed via web interface or Outlook client.
First of all, it is necessary to understand the rpe played by each of the components of the architecture.
CloudWatch plays the rpe of the monitoring system. It cplects, stores and analyzes metrics generated by the resources it monitors.
Next, we have the instances that generate the metrics. These are the EC2 instances, which are the AWS products that allow us to create virtual machines on demand.
Finally, we have the metrics generated by the EC2 instances, which are information about CPU usage, memory usage, network usage or operation status, etc. There are many types of metrics depending on the type of resource being monitored. But there are common metrics among them, such as CPU usage percentage or network traffic.
So far so good. We have CloudWatch cplecting metrics generated by EC2 instances. How do they get into CloudWatch? Well, there are two ways for this to happen:
CloudWatch and Microsoft Exchange can be integrated with one another in several ways. One of those ways is via custom scripts written with the help of the “CloudWatch metric filters” tops mentioned above. These scripts can cplect data generated by Exchange and store it in CloudWatch as metrics that can then be analyzed and visualized as part of a bigger picture.
The main advantage is that all the data gets cplected and stored together in CloudWatch without any additional configuration needed. This means you don’t need to change any settings in Exchange. simply install the “CloudWatch metric filters” and you’re ready to go!
