The course of study I am taking is a self-paced one. It is an online course with a set of videos that one can watch at their leisure. However, there are certain deadlines that must be met.
One of the major problems with this kind of course is that because it is self-paced, students do not necessarily work at the same speed as one another. Thus, if students are communicating with each other, they can fall behind. If they go too fast, others may fall behind. As such, the only avenue for communication is through the instructor who will post questions for discussion on the course forum or assignment submissions. The manner in which these questions are posted is important because it allows the instructor to monitor the progress of the student and to help them understand where they need to improve.
Alegra is a program designed for teachers to create their own courses and monitor the progress of their students. It implements the concept of “one-to-many” education because one single teacher can create multiple courses that any number of students can take. Alegra was created by Thinkific to allow teachers create courses like those discussed above.
Thinkific is also an application created by Thinkific to allow users create, publish, and host their own online courses. Like Alegra, Thinkific allows for “one-to-many” education. It was created to provide users with all the tops they need to create an online course.
The integration of Alegra and Thinkific allows for ease of use by both the teacher creating the course and the student taking it. Alegra provides a platform that can be used by teachers to create their courses while Thinkific helps them manage communications once their course has been published. This process is made simple by Thinkific which manages all of the technical aspects of the online course so the teacher can focus on teaching.
The benefits of combining Alegra and Thinkific include any functionality that is added to either one. Those features are available to both users.
