Introduction. A new trend in the business management software industry is the integration of CRM and e-commerce software. Companies like Agile and Vend have created systems that easily integrate their existing information-management services and provide a single platform for managing all aspects of vendor, customer, and employee relationships.

Agile CRM and Vend are popular, easy to use, web-based products. Vend, Inc. was established in 2002 by Jason Cohen and quickly became a main competitor of SugarCRM. Vend’s success is partially due to its focus on the future of e-commerce. AgileCRM was also established in 2002 by Nick Kishfy and Alex Denesha. Both companies are leaders in the CRM/e-commerce industry and can be compared directly. Although they have similar features and functions, they both offer them in a different manner. Vend’s main focus is customer relations while Agile focuses on vendor relations.

Vend’s main focus is the customer. Vend allows users to create Websites and Online Stores. Vend is compatible with the major shopping carts such as Magento, Drupal, Zen Cart, Presta Shop, Os Commerce, Virtue Mart, Xcart and many others. Vend has a point of sale application for retail stores and is integrated with Quickbooks online. Vend’s Multi-User capability allows companies to create multiple users (employees. within a company to work with customer information. Vend also offers support for product data feeds from eBay and Amazon. Vend also offers a wide range of add-on applications that can be used to enhance your website or online store experience. The core application does not charge for updates or upgrades. There are however upgrade fees for some of the add-ons. All updates are free of charge.

Agile CRM is aimed at vendors instead of customers. Agile CRM works with almost any e-commerce platform including. Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, ZenCart, CubeCart and many more. AgileCRM is compatible with Quickbooks and other accounting platforms. AgileCRM has a built-in accounting module which allows you to manage your accounting data directly from within AgileCRM without having to manually enter information from your accounting system into AgileCRM. AgileCRM has an Outlook add-in which allows you to sync contacts from Outlook into AgileCRM. AgileCRM also offers an Outbound Email System that allows you to email your entire client list or specific customers at the same time. AgileCRM features a Wide range of add-ons like those offered by Vend including Shipping Rates, Inventory Management Systems, Point of Sale Systems, etc…

Conclusion. We chose these two products because they seem to be ppar opposites when it comes to the focus of their software; Vend focuses on customers while Agile focuses on vendors. From our research we learned that both companies offer some of the same features such as Vendor/Customer Relationship Management (Vendor/Customer Management), Online Store Creation (Online Store Creation), Multi User Capabilities (Multi User Capabilities), Accounting Integration (Accounting Integration), Point of Sale System (Point of Sale System), Sales Tax Calculations (Sales Tax Calculations. but both do them differently. Vend focuses on the customer while Agile focuses on vendors. Vend offers multiple hosting options from Standard Hosting to Dedicated Server Hosting. Agile only offers Standard Hosting as an option however they have proven reliability for their hosting services through their years in business as well as their excellent customer service known throughout the industry as one of the best in the industry. Although Vend seems to be the clear winner here, there are certain features that can be found in both products that are not offered by the other product at this time (e.g.. Vend’s unique ability to email your entire client list at once or their Point of Sale System vs. Agile’s unique ability to integrate QuickBooks. We believe that there is a place for both products in today’s market as they each offer different features not offered by the other product (for example. Vend’s emphasis on Customer Relationships vs Agile’s emphasis on Vendor Relationships.
