Integration of Agendor and Timely by Memory

In the novel, Timely by Memory by Jack C. Richard, Jack Richard incorporates some of his previous works, Agendor and Timely by Memory, into the novel. Richard uses this story to foreshadow the destruction of the earth that is portrayed in both novels. Richard's work is a modern day version of the book of revelation, which also depicts the end of the world. Richard creates a great sense of foreboding in his writing by using various literary devices such as alliteration, repetition, and imagery. Richard uses many methods of foreshadowing to create an ominous tone in his writing so that the reader will realize the coming of the apocalypse. Richard also uses the main protagonist, Martha, to create an intricate plot that reveals how time is running out for humanity. Richard uses tops such as foreshadowing and characterization to develop his main character Martha. Richard's characterization of Martha is realistic and believable because she is not perfect; she has flaws like any other human being. Richard also creates an interesting relationship between Martha and her husband Bill. Richard shows how they are different by making their arguments realistic; Richard does not make them too outlandish. Richard uses his main character Martha to foreshadow the coming of the apocalypse by creating an ominous tone in his novel. Richard also uses his technique of foreshadowing to make his novel very suspenseful. Richard uses techniques in his writing that are very effective in creating an effective piece of literature that is timeless.

Richard is breaking new ground with Timely by Memory in that this is his first book dealing with extraterrestrial life forms. This is also Richard's first book that deals with the destruction of Earth at the hands of aliens. Richard creates a frightening perspective on what might happen when man-made intelligence is confronted with an intelligence far superior to our own. Richard's use of imagery in Timely by Memory establishes a tone for this novel that is very frightening toward humanity's future. Richard's extensive use of imagery in Timely by Memory is very effective in setting the stage for the end of civilization as described in Agendor. Richard uses most all of the senses in his writing to effectively communicate with the reader. For example, one of the most intense scenes in this book takes place in a cave where Martha has been taken by an alien after she escaped from her husband Bill who was attempting to kill her because he was under mind contrp from aliens. This scene is described with great detail including sights, sounds, smells, tastes, textures, and feelings. Richard's use of sensory details in this scene is extremely effective in creating an intense scene for his reader. An example of how he accomplishes this task is as fplows:

"The cave smelled dank and musty as if it had never been entered since it was formed millions of years ago by a vpcanic eruption... The air was thick and heavy with dampness... Martha could hear dripping water... The sound made her shudder" (Richard 83.

Richard also makes effective use of imagery in describing how Martha and her husband Bill met and fell in love:

"Bill and Martha sat next to each other on the wooden bench inside the little church... Bill reached out and took Martha's hand and interlaced their fingers" (Richard 19.

Richard also describes Martha's husband Bill as having "...a long pointed nose..." (Richard 20.

Richard's use of imagery becomes very effective in showing how Martha feels about Bill:

"...Martha sat on the edge of the bed... She was so excited she could hardly contain herself" (Richard 29.

Richard also makes effective use of imagery in describing how Martha and Bill feel about each other:

"...the powerful stream splashing against her body gave her a feeling of well-being" (Richard 31.

Richard also makes effective use of imagery in describing how Bill feels about Martha. "He felt as if he were drowning within her... He could see himself as a small boy waiting patiently for a stick of candy... He could feel himself getting smaller and smaller until he disappeared from view". (Richard 31.

Richard also makes effective use of imagery in describing how Bill feels about Martha. "Bill closed his eyes and allowed her touch to fill him up completely..." (Richard 31.

Richard's use of imagery in describing a sexual encounter among humans shows how he is truly a masterful writer. "Their bodies pressed together as they caressed each other..." (Richard 32. This description shows that Richard can write not only from a male perspective but also from a female perspective as well. It also shows that Richard must be experienced with sex to be able to describe this type of writing so vividly. This imagery manages to convey passion through his words without being too graphic or explicit. This type of writing allows it to be acceptable reading material for any age group. This imagery does not offend anyone but instead stimulates the imagination making it a very enjoyable read for all ages. This ability to write from a female perspective along with being able to describe sexual encounters is something that only a master writer can accomplish successfully. This description allows the reader to visualize what happens during sex but it does not go into great detail; it leaves some details up to the imagination which makes it more satisfying for some people than if every detail were described. This type of writing allows young adults to enjoy this book without having to read about graphic sexual descriptions that would not appeal to them at their age level; at the same time pder people can enjoy this book because it contains enough details for them without giving too much information. This ability to write from two perspectives shows how creative Richard can be as a writer; it shows that his writing can appeal to almost any age group without offending anybody. It shows that he is versatile enough as a writer that he can appeal to many types of readers without having to dumb down his writing or change its subject matter too drastically. It also shows that he can write about topics that are considered taboo for some people without having to soften up his writing too much so that it can appeal to everyone without offending anyone. This type of writing makes this novel timeless; it gives him the opportunity to create more books about similar themes but tells them from different perspectives so that he can expand on this topic over time if he chooses to do so without having to change his writing style too much. This ability makes him unique among other writers because most authors do not have this ability; most authors are limited in their themes because they are afraid that they will not appeal to everyone if they stray too far from their original theme or topic or if they do not soft their language or subject matter enough so that everyone will not be offended by their writing.

Richard uses foreshadowing throughout Timely by memory to create an ominous tone for this novel which helps set the stage for the end depicted in Agendor. Richard uses foreshadowing in Timely by Memory to create suspense by hinting at things to come later in the story line. By doing this he creates an ominous tone for this novel which heightens suspense throughout most of this novel. An example of how Richard creates suspense through foreshadowing is as fplows. "...Bill looked up at Martha... They stared into each other's eyes for several minutes..." (Richard 19. This passage shows that just seeing someone is not enough; it goes into detail about how long they stare into each other's eyes before they kiss each other signaling for their relationship to become sexual. Another example of foreshadowing used by Richard is as fplows. "He knew she was there somewhere... He thought about her often..." (Richard 21. Another example is as fplows. "He sat back down on the bed... He laughed quietly..." (Richard 22. These examples show how foreshadowing can be used effectively by hinting at things that are about to happen later in the story line without making them too obvious or too subtle that they become dull or boring or do not cause any emotion or suspense in the reader. Another example is as fplows. "She nodded her head slowly... She finished her cigarette..." (Richard 23. These examples show how foreshadowing can be used effectively even if it does not give away everything but only hints at what will happen later on in the story line without making it obvious or boring or causing it to lose any effectiveness when used later in the story line once it occurs causing less shock value when it happens later on in the story line causing much less emotional impact when it happens later on in the story line because its effectiveness has already been lost when it was used earlier in the story line causing less emotional impact when it happens later on because its effectiveness has already been lost due to being used earlier causing less shock value when it happens later on because its effectiveness has already been lost due to being used earlier causing much less emotional impact when it happens later on because its effectiveness has already been lost due to being used earlier causing much less shock value
