Agendor is a native monitoring top that is used for managing and monitoring of services, applications, and infrastructure. It provides real-time information about the health of the system. It has an alerting mechanism that sends messages whenever any anomalies are found in the monitored system. The messages are sent via email, SMS, etc. Agendor comes with multiple plugins that can be used to monitor software, hardware, and services individually.
OpsGenie is one of the most popular alerting tops. It can be used for alerting on various types of anomalies like system failure, downtime, etc. It can also be integrated with numerous IT service management tops including Agendor. Once integrated with Agendor, OpsGenie will act as the central platform for receiving alerts from Agendor and also setting up routine notifications for users. This helps in reducing the workload on the user’s end as they don’t need to handle multiple systems for getting alerts. They only need to check the alerts on OpsGenie to know about any problems in their environment.
The integration of Agendor and OpsGenie can be done via webhook or API. There are two ways to integrate these two systems. First is by using webhooks, which allows faster integration between Agendor and OpsGenie. The second method is to use the API, which requires added code to be written. Since webhook integration makes it easy to integrate, it is widely preferred over API integration.
To integrate Agendor with OpsGenie via webhooks, fplow these steps:
Step 1. Sign up for free at OpsGenie and create an account there. Once the account is created, log in to OpsGenie and go to ‘Manage Alerting’ tab. Then click on ‘Alerting Integrations’ tab, which will show the list of available integrations. Click on ‘+ New Integration’ button under ‘Integration Settings’ tab. This will open a form where you will need to enter the details of your integration.
Step 2. While entering the details of your integration, you will need to specify the name of your integration as well as its type. Then enter details of your notification recipients in the box provided under ‘Recipient Email’ tab. You can also specify custom recipient email address if you want to send notifications to individual users rather than all users together.
Step 3. Next, you need to enter details of your notification channels under ‘Notification Channels’ tab. Specify the channel(s. through which you want to receive notifications from OpsGenie after integrating with Agendor in this tab. You will be able to select the channels in the next steps in case they are not already selected for you by default. You can select more than one channel for receiving notifications in case you wish to get them delivered through more than one channel at once.
Step 4. Now you need to specify the integration URL under ‘Integration URL’ tab in order to complete your integration with OpsGenie via webhooks. You can set up this URL when you are creating alerts in Agendor for OpsGenie, but if you have already created alerts without specifying an URL, you can do so manually too by clicking on ‘Add Integration URL’ button under ‘Integration URL’ tab in your Agendor Account settings. Then copy the resulting URL and paste it into ‘Enter Integration URL’ text box present in ‘Integration URL’ tab of your OpsGenie Integration form in order to complete your integration via webhooks.
