Creates a new story.
In the past, individuals with mental illnesses were not acknowledged and were even regarded as a social outcast. Members of the community were afraid of them, which led to the creation of a subculture that ispated these individuals from the mainstream community. These kinds of people are often described as crazy, weird, and different. The reality is that they are just like you and me, except that they have a mental illness. A mental illness is an impairment in thinking or mood that interferes with the way a person relates to others and interacts in the world. Mental disorders are very common, but there is still a lot of stigma attached to them. Mental illness can happen to anyone, at any time, regardless of race, gender, nationality, religion or age. They can start early in life or develop later on. People who have mental illnesses should not be ostracized by society. The integration of Agendor and Clubhouse will help to reduce stigma associated with mental illnesses by improving the quality of life of people who are living
with mental illnesses. This paper will argue for the integration of Agendor into Clubhouse to realize this goal.
Integration of Agendor into Clubhouse will allow Clubhouse members to receive much needed services and will promote the recovery process for individuals with mental illness. A service-based organization such as Agendor will provide valuable services to clubhouses that are in need of more support for those with mental illnesses, especially those that were not able to benefit from previous programs. One essential service that Agendor provides is case management for people with mental illnesses. “Case managers work with individuals and families to develop goals and plans for health and independent living” (CESAR. This service will allow the clubhouses to focus on other areas while leaving case management to the professionals at Agendor. It will also provide support for individuals who do not have family members or friends who are willing or able to provide them with enough support. The second service provided by Agendor is advocacy for individuals with mental illnesses, and their families (CESAR. Advocacy will help to increase the awareness of mental illnesses and will bring more positive changes to the lives of people who are living with mental illnesses. With increased awareness comes more support for those who have mental illnesses. Families will receive more education about mental illnesses, so they can better understand what it is like for a family member who has a mental illness. This will make them more supportive towards their family members who have a mental illness and will help them to heal from their own loss and trauma.
Agendor will also offer an opportunity for family members of those with mental illnesses, including spouses and children, to find a support group for themselves as well. Group therapy sessions will also be available for those who are interested in participating. Group therapy sessions are a good way for family members to share their experiences and discuss how they have been affected by their loved ones’ mental illness. After sharing their stories, participants learn how to cope with what has happened and how to move on. Another important service that Agendor offers is day treatment programs. Day treatment programs are designed to meet the needs of mentally ill clients who have limited access to services because they do not live near a facility or cannot find transportation (CESAR. Day treatment programs allow people to get the treatment they need without having to deal with the inconveniences and chaos of a hospital setting. Day treatment programs include outpatient treatment programs that allow people to continue working during treatment or go to schop while receiving treatment (CESAR. These programs are especially beneficial to those whose jobs require them to travel long distances in order to get to work. The day treatment program can be held at a location near work or schop so that they do not have to miss work or schop because of their treatment program.
The integration of Agendor into Clubhouse will improve the quality of life for people living with mental illnesses by providing them with more support, which will lead them towards recovery. Agendor’s mission statement says it best when it states that “Agendor is committed to empowering individuals with disabilities by promoting self-sufficiency through the provision of person-centered habilitative services” (Agendor. If Agendor services are offered within Clubhouses, then they will be able to promote self-sufficiency by providing people with mental illnesses with case management and day treatment programs.
