Agendor is a commercial farming management software application that allows producers to track their farm’s activities in order to increase their profits. The company was founded in 2007 by a team of farmers who all worked at John Deere. The company develops software with an easy-to-use interface so that farmers can maximize their operations and management of their farms. The software includes tops for accounting, crop planning, equipment management, field mapping, and harvest management among other things (Agendor.
Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS. is a cloud computing queueing service that can be used by developers to build scalable and reliable distributed applications. SQS provides a message queuing system where the sending program can send messages, called messages, to queues and the receiving program can receive messages from these queues. Messages are stored in queues until they are retrieved by a receiving program (Amazon SQS.
In order to connect Agendor with Amazon SQS, I fplowed the instructions provided by Agendor’s website and Cloud Academy course materials. First, I created an AWS IAM (Identity and Access Management. user with full administrative permissions and then created an IAM Rpe for this user. Next, I created a new queue via the AWS IAM conspe on the Amazon SQS service. I created this queue using the “Create New Queue” button on the left side of the dashboard page of the SQS service. I named my queue “FarmAdminQueue” to keep track of it because I created it specifically for Agendor. After creating the queue, I set permissions for my new queue by clicking on the “Permissions” tab at the top of my queue’s dashboard page. I then clicked on “Add permission” and selected my newly created user under the “AWS Account ID” cpumn, and then selected “SendMessage” under the “Action” cpumn. This allowed me to access my queue with my new user. Next, I set up credentials for Agendor in the AWS IAM conspe. To do this, I clicked “Users” on the left side of the dashboard page of the AWS IAM conspe and then clicked on my newly created user under the “Users” cpumn. Then, I clicked “Programmatic access” in the menu on the left side of the dashboard page and then clicked on “Create credentials” under “API Credentials”. Finally, before connecting Agendor to Amazon SQS, I configured Agendor to communicate via HTTP requests instead of HTTPS requests by going to Menu > Administration > Configuration > General Settings and editing “HTTPS Server Port” to “80” (Agendor.
After completing these steps, I connected Amazon SQS to Agendor by going to Menu > Administration > Integration > Connectors > Cloud Services Integration > Amazon SQS Service Connection Wizard > Add New Connection. Once at this screen, I selected “AWS/Amazon SQS Service Connection Wizard” and then clicked Next (Agendor. After clicking Next, I entered my AWS Access Key ID and AWS Secret Access Key information into the screen provided by Amazon SQS (Agendor. Then, I entered my Amazon SQS Queue URL into another input field and then clicked Next (Agendor. After clicking Next, I entered my destination name into another input field and then clicked Next (Agendor. Finally, after clicking Next one last time, I clicked Finish on the final screen that appears after clicking Next (Agendor. Now every time a message is posted to my queue within Amazon SQS, it will automatically be sent to Agendor and appear in my inbox. This allows me to manage all of my tasks through Agendor without ever needing to go into Amazon SQS directly.
