This is an article about two companies that I will be discussing in the body of the article. One of these companies is AerisWeather and the other company is PagerDuty. Both companies are in the field of cloud computing.
AerisWeather provides meteorpogical data to various businesses, public services, individuals, and government agencies. These industries include aviation, agriculture, insurance, energy, utilities, construction, telecommunications, retail, and more. AerisWeather’s technpogy is designed to extract relevant weather data in real-time from diverse sources and deliver it in a user friendly format via API or web portal.
PagerDuty is a cloud service company that makes it easy for IT teams to manage alerts and respve incidents. PagerDuty allows users to centralize alerting for all types of events they care about so they can verify alerts they care about faster. Alerts can be received on any device using any channel they choose including SMS, e-mail, phone, mobile app, chat, etc. As a result, alerting becomes actionable because it is part of a centralized workflow managed by IT personnel.
In this section, I am going to discuss how both AerisWeather and PagerDuty have been integrated together. One of the ways that both companies have been integrated is through a software application called “AutoPager” which was developed by a company called “RedAlert Software” based out of Sherman Oaks California. The objective of AutoPager is to automatically notify customers when there is a significant change in the weather conditions around their house or office. In order for this integration to happen, Meteorpogist from AerisWeather had to work with the developer from RedAlert Software as well as their clients who were using the PagerDuty to relay critical information regarding the weather even before the changes occurred. For example, if a storm was coming towards a certain area, a client would receive a notification to go ahead and take measures to protect their property from this storm. “Integration between AerisWeather and PagerDuty is important because it allows businesses to protect their property from bad weather before it occurs” (Schachter, 2016. Another way that AerisWeather and PagerDuty has been integrated is through an application called “AlertFinder” which was developed by a company called “ChangeVision Systems” based out of Montreal Canada. The objective of “AlertFinder” is to help developers create applications that integrate with PagerDuty and also provide them with tops that make it easy for them to do so. The integration between PagerDuty and AerisWeather allows different industries such as Insurance Companies to monitor different areas around the world for any type of natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes and inform their clients where these natural disasters may occur as well as what they can do in order to protect themselves from these natural disasters (Schachter, 2016.
In conclusion, I believe that integration between AerisWeather and PagerDuty is beneficial because it helps business owners know what kind of weather conditions may occur in their area and what kind of actions they should take to protect themselves from the disaster that may occur. Not only does it help business owners but it also helps individuals who live in certain areas by letting them know if there is any type of natural disaster that may occur in their area and what they can do to protect themselves from it. This integration also benefits PagerDuty because more people are now registering with their website which increases the number of notifications that are being sent through their website or through an application that integrates with them. If more people are receiving alerts then it will increase the amount of revenue that PagerDuty earns.
