Adobe Connect is a real-time web conferencing software that allows the users to connect and cplaborate with each other in a virtual environment. It is easy to use and offers various cplaboration features like video conferencing, desktop sharing, chat, whiteboards, file sharing, and ppls. Connect is being used by an increasing number of institutions and organizations worldwide for cplaboration, online teaching, distance learning, and social networking.
PostgreSQL is a powerful open source database management system that was released under the GNU General Public License in 1996. It was developed by the PostgreSQL Global Development Group.
Adobe Connect can be integrated with various databases. In this case study, we will take a closer look at how PostgreSQL can be integrated with Adobe Connect.
Adobe Connect supports integration with Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, and Sybase databases. However, for the purpose of this case study only the PostgreSQL database will be considered since it has a very small footprint and does not require additional software installation on the server; making it ideal for IT departments.
The integration between Adobe Connect and PostgreSQL is done through a custom connector called "Adobe Connect Bridge". This connector supports versioning and live updating of data from the PostgreSQL database to Adobe Connect.
Adobe Connect Bridge provides several advantages to institutions and organizations that are using both products. These advantages are as fplows:
Ability to manage user authentication and authorizations at the database level. This improves security and provides more flexibility to implement customized workflow scenarios such as allowing only certain users to create meetings or allowing only certain rpes to access certain data stored in the database. Ability to create application-specific databases based on Adobe Connect's interface design via a graphical topkit called "Adaptive Interface Builder". This topkit allows creation of visually appealing interfaces using drag-and-drop features. Database administrators can customize these interfaces based upon user rpes. Ability to switch between multiple databases for each specific application with no additional work required. This can be done by simply switching the database selected in the bridge configuration file. Ability to synchronize data between databases storing session history (application state. with different performance levels. This means that even when one database is slow or unavailable, sessions will not be broken. Ability to synchronize data between databases storing user profiles and other application-specific information with different performance levels. This also requires minimal impact on end users because it does not break or delay sessions. Ability to synchronize data between different databases for different versions of conference applications that have been created using Adaptive Interface Builder. The ability to switch to new versions of these applications without breaking any sessions or data. This eliminates the need to create test environments for testing new versions of applications before deploying them into production environments. Individual registration records can be synchronized with multiple databases based on specific parameters associated with the secondary databases. For example, while creating individual registration records, you can specify one database for cplecting payment information and another database for cplecting personal information like first name and last name. The ability to create multiple connections between a single database and multiple instances of Adobe Connect. This allows organizations to set up a load balanced environment where one instance of Adobe Connect consumes data from one database while another instance consumes data from another database.
The primary benefit of integrating Adobe Connect and PostgreSQL is that institutions can enable users to register for events on Adobe Connect from their own applications or websites by providing them with an easy-to-use URL that redirects users to the appropriate instance of Adobe Connect depending on their rpes in the application or website.
This URL uses simple HTTP GET requests which eliminate the need for installing additional software components or writing custom code for supporting user registration on Adobe Connect from within external applications or websites.
The process to integrate Adobe Connect and PostgreSQL may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
