I.1. Adobe Connect?
Adobe Connect (AC. is a web conferencing and online meeting product that allows users to cplaborate and share information with others via your desktop or mobile device. AC can be used to support large class settings and professor led courses, as well as small professor led courses, and peer-to-peer cplaboration. AC supports integration with Microsoft Lync, and can be integrated with other applications such as OneNote.
OneNote is a free application from Microsoft that some students use as a note taking top. OneNote is intended for note taking only and not as a conferencing top. OneNote has the ability to embed any web page into a notebook through the use of an app called 'Office Lens'. OneNote also has the ability to create outlines and allow users to add comments on notes and next to text in an outline.
II.1. Integration of Adobe Connect and OneNote
Integration between AC and OneNote is supported through the use of the Office Lens app. When installed, there is a topbar option available within OneNote called 'Web Page' which will scan a document or whiteboard and create a photo of it with a URL hyperlink, or if no URL is present, will copy the image to the clipboard. The URL hyperlink will open the web page inside of AC. With this method, there is also a possibility that a PowerPoint presentation could be copied into OneNote as a photo with a PowerPoint-generated thumbnail address. This would work, however, because a user may have attempted to insert a PowerPoint presentation but was unable to due to lack of an Internet connection. In addition to the web page top, OneNote has an 'Insert' menu option called 'Insert Drawing' which produces a similar result as the 'Web Page' option in that it creates a photo with a hyperlink to the source file. The benefit of this option over the Web Page option is that it allows users to insert any type of file into OneNote that has a hyperlink, not just web pages. OneNote can become an integral part of an online course by allowing students the ability to create outlines while watching recorded videos. This could be done without any additional software or hardware.
Students can use AC to support their small group discussions, activities, or projects. This would allow students to cplaborate without leaving their desks using AC. Students would be able to use real time chat, share files, view shared screens, and view whiteboards in real time without having to leave their desks or log into another application.
Assignments could be given through AC or online through Blackboard. Students could then take pictures of their results with the Office Lens app and insert it into OneNote, creating an outline for an assignment. This could be synced with Outlook for easy viewing on any device with access to Outlook.
