When I first started working for my company, it was just me, my boss, and a few other people. The work load was light, but the stress was high. There was always something to do. It was difficult to keep up with the workload.
Our company’s name is Nelvana Ltd. We are a film studio which produces visual entertainment for all ages. We are based in Toronto, Canada. The majority of our staff are located within this city, but there are some who are located in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. We also have offices in London, Paris, Beijing, Mumbai, and Seoul.
Nelvana has been around since 1972. It was started by two guys who were students at the University of Toronto. They shared an interest in animation and this sparked a long-term relationship. These two young men decided to start a business together in order to produce a show entitled “The Magic Pony” for TV Ontario. This TV series only lasted one season, but the two guys decided to continue creating shows. The names of these two men were Michael Hirsh and Norman Toronto.
In 1983, Nelvana was spd to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation which is known as CBC/Radio-Canada in French or CBC in English. This sale gave Nelvana the chance to grow and become more successful. In 1984, Nelvana produced its first full-length animated feature entitled Rock & Rule. This movie received a great deal of attention from audiences due to its unique story line and graphics.
In 1987, Nelvana created a new division called Nelvana Enterprises Incorporated. This division was created in order to work on licensing opportunities outside of Canada with foreign companies. In 1992, this division produced its first show called “Babe Ruth” which was a big hit in the United States. In 1997, Nelvana Enterprises Incorporated merged with Ruby-Spears Productions. In 2004, Nelvana acquired all of the assets from Cookie Jar Entertainment for $10 million dplars which included several television series and movies such as Strawberry Shortcake and Yo Gabba Gabba! In 2008, Nelvana went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX. TNL. under the name Nelvana Limited. This allowed more people to buy shares in this company and make money while doing so.
Nelvana has won many awards over the years such as:
