720 Colorado Area Codes & Everything about 720 Area Codes Location & Telephone Numbers

The city of Denver is the capital and largest city of Colorado. It is also the state’s most populous city. Denver has a population of 662,862. The Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area has a population of 2,376,907 and the Denver-Boulder-Greeley, CO Combined Statistical Area has a population of 3,110,189. The city was founded in 1858 as a mining town during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. It became the Territorial Capital in 1867 and the state capital in 1876. Area Code 303 encompasses all of Denver proper, with the exception of the far Northeast part of the city. The 303 area code was created when it became apparent that with the metro area’s growth, the 720 Area Code was insufficient to cover the entire region. The 303 area code began service on July 7th, 1995 and was expected to be exhausted by October 2016. In 2012, an overlay code, 719 was added to the 303 area code. The area codes in Colorado outside of Denver are: 970 (Ft. Collins/Greeley), 970 (Colorado Springs), 806 (Pueblo), 800 (Durango), 719 (Southern Areas), 719 (Northern Areas), and 970 (Grand Junction). What are area codes? Area codes are telephone area codes regulated by the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) and used by all telephone companies in the United States and Canada to identify the geographic region of a local telephone call. Geographic area codes are organized by locality; each area code covers an approximate 3 by 7 mile region. The North American Numbering Plan was originally developed as a flat numbering plan, meaning that every one of the Continental United States was assigned a single telephone number for each telephone exchange, hence the term “area code”. For example, in the town of Big Springs, Texas, people living in the same vicinity all shared a single area code of 806. A few large cities were split among multiple area codes. This is why there are still some cities who share an area code even though they have long ago merged with other cities. In the 2000s, NANPA began to use a three-digit number called an area code overlay to compete with increasing demand for new telephone numbers; in this system, multiple callers can be served by the same seven-digit number, but with different area codes. This is enabled by a mechanism called number pooling. For example, two different prefixes within a metropolitan area may be served by one central office.. The Pooling Administrator for an overlay acts as a central point of contact for customers and telephone service providers. If a customer requests a new telephone number from a provider, and if an unused prefix or prefixes is available in the same overlay, then the Pooling Administrator allocates that prefix to the customer upon receipt of payment from the customer to the provider; otherwise, if no unused prefix is available in the overlay in which the customer’s existing numbers are located, then the Pooling Administrator allocates that prefix to the customer from another overlay. When customers move into an area served by an overlay and request a new telephone number from a provider, if an unused prefix 720 Area Code Colorado Area Code The 720 area code covers these major cities: Aurora, Denver, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Littleton, Lakewood, Centennial, Boulder, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Pueblo, Greeley, Longmont + more… View All » 720 Area Code Map: Colorado Area Code Overlay 1 Area Code Overlay 2 Area Code Overlay 3 Area Code City State 1 Area Code City State 2 760 Colorado Springs CO 719 Colorado Springs CO 913 Colorado Springs CO 700 Colorado Springs CO 722 Colorado Springs CO 308 Greeley CO 970 Greeley CO 970 Fort Collins CO 970 Loveland CO 970 Greeley CO 970 Greeley CO 970 Greeley CO 970 Greeley CO 570 Greeley CO 687 Longmont CO 687 Longmont CO 806 Pueblo CO 806 Pueblo West CO 806 Pueblo West CO 719 Denver City and County, Boulder County and parts of Jefferson County, Gilpin County and Clear Creek County in Central Colorado. 720 Denver city and parts of Adams County, Arapahoe and Broomfield counties in Northeast Colorado. 719 Colorado Springs and the southwest corner of El Paso County including Fountain and Security. 806 Pueblo and parts of Otero County including Pueblo West. 970 Fort Collins & north through Larimer and Weld counties. 970 Greeley & north into Wyoming. 970 Loveland & north into Wyoming. 970 Greeley & north into Wyoming. 970 Fort Collins & north through Larimer and Weld counties. Theis one of the most popular area codes in the US State of Colorado. The region code is mainly used by the customers of the telecommunication companies AT&T, T-Mobile/SunCom (Nextel), Sprint/Nextel (Cingular) who have telephones numbers with How many area codes are there in the Colorado? There are 5 area codes in the state of Colorado. They are: 303, 720, 970, and 971. I recently had my phone number ported to a company that is using AT&T as a carrier. When I dial my number, it still comes up as a text message (i.e. “text me at…”). Is there anything I can do to fix this?
