Introducing negotiations

Video Transcription: In this video I want to begin introducing negotiation to you it's sometimes an intimidating topic it's it might seem like a confrontational topic but it's actually a good thing because ideally everyone wins and everyone gets what they want and negotiation is a way to sort of a massage the situation from both sides this video is brought to you by Appy Pie’s Academy and come up with an agreement that works for everyone that's how I deal often many people think that negotiation is only about getting your things to go your way the main problem with that is that even if you have a short term immediate win if you rip somebody off during a negotiation they will have long term resentment they'll shortly realize oh I got the short end of the stick I lost a little bit I got tricked they'll have resentment they are not gonna do business with you anymore or they're gonna do bad business with you or they gonna do something else with this that's not ideal you want people to leave happy and you want yourself to leave extra happy that's the ideal negotiation outcome so it's a good thing if you'd welcome it it's a chance also for you to learn about your customers because as your customers are negotiating with you they are giving you a learning opportunity to see kind of peek inside what they can afford what they can do what works for them what they need what they're asking for and then in your next negotiations you'll be more ready to have counter arguments and so really a negotiation is in addition to it being a way for you to get things to go as you want it's also a learning opportunity to make your next negotiation that much better and one thing to keep in mind very very very complex negotiations and negotiations that have a lot at stake they can get complicated and if you want to if you do want to get the better outcome if you feel that you're a better negotiator you need to complicate the negotiation parameters because when you complicate the negotiation parameters that's going to confuse the other person more and you're going to be able to it's kind of like chess if you're the better chess person you want to play a more complicated style the problem is that it's all going to take you time so for relatively simple negotiations you actually want to simplify things so that everyone is very clear if nobody feels extra suspicion you keep things simple and you don't waste your time because sometimes too much negotiation actually sours the mood because you remember you want to keep your customer excited you don't want them to get bored or sad or dejected so you don't want to take have it take too long for them to change their mind as well so keep it if it takes time simplify it keep it simple make sure that you can get what you want and what the customer gets which what they want and that's the ideal outcome so these are the initial parameters and in the next few videos we're gonna get deeper into various facets of negotiations.
