This course is brought to you by Appy Pie as part of our Academy series number 20 my multitasking should burn in hell now people multitask because they have so much to do so many things going on at the same time that if they multitask if they focus on several things at once they think they feel that they're actually getting more done that is not the case multitasking doesn't work like that if you do to ten things at a time you're not gonna get it done ten times 15 times faster it's gonna actually take you more time to accomplish it okay now keep in mind when you're multitasking you're actually not focusing on everything at the same time what you're doing is more appropriately labeled as switch tasking so you are focusing on one thing at a time as soon as that thing is done or once you're ready to the next thing then you switch over your mind changes it moves and it loads up the next process that needs to be accomplished and you lose that time in between so as you're going from A to B your mind has to do backflips to get ready for B and forget about a it also has to lose some time in between while you're switching so from A to B you're losing time you're losing energy that's not good and you do that between 10 tasks you do that consistently you know every minute you're switching between things you're gonna be absolutely exhausted you'll find they like you'll actually get a lot less done then you actually intended so your intentions might have started out good you're multitasking so you can get more done so you can accomplish more so you can do the things you want to do but it's actually having the opposite result of what you want now what you should do what should you do there's a lot of things to do about this but the most important is to not multitask focus on one thing at once we've talked about blocking out times to focus on one thing do one thing at a time get that thing done then move on to the next thing you're gonna save yourself a lot of time a lot of hassle a lot of stress a lot of energy a lot of tension a lot of anxiety a lot of worries don't multitask.
