Video Transcription: So now we understand the importance of imagination but ironically imagination is so hard to pinpoint and pin down it's a very great area so how do we focus on it well I recommend not only imaginating but actually combining imagination and hard work and it starts with working and developing a deep expertise in some subject area because once you have a deeper expertise in some subject area you'll notice problems and things that can be improved within that subject area and you have the expertise to know have other people tried it is it a worthwhile problem to solve will people pay for it you'll have that depth of knowledge in some times what's also going to happen is there is gonna be new technology start to be available that will make new solutions to old problems in your area and possible for example the taxi industry has been the same industry for a long time but then boom geolocation apps and uber happen but it's only available through a new technology so sometimes the big ideas can come through new technology and if you're already thinking about how to evolve or improve an industry a new technology can really be helpful now what you also want to do is that combination of work hard work in us in a deep area combined it with relaxation and idle time when your brain relaxes it actually keeps working in the background on complicated challenges but in a different way than it would if you were intently working on it and focusing on it directly when relaxed the brain can try new things it still works in the background for you and every once in a while you come up with like a Eureka moment aha moment randomly and sometimes it happens.
When you're walking or like even in the shower maybe you're familiar with this paradigm where you just randomly come up with fantastic solutions to problems so combining that little bit of idle time maybe going to nature maybe taking a weekend off it's hard to do when you're intently working but that's precisely what can give you a big breakthrough idea so letting your brain roam free is a good way to let your imagination take over now also ideas evolve today you can take a little basic idea and launch it the barrier to entry for a business or idea now is very long all you have to do is put up a website start getting feedback start playing around with it the costs are minimal usually and the amount of work is not that big most of the time so you can actually play around and improve your idea try ideas work on them make people use it collect the feedback think about it improve the ideas and over time this will evolve your ideas this is the main principle behind Eric Ries the Lean Startup which is a really popular book today and Eric Ries is one of the leading business thinkers today and that's really the core of his ideas is this essential launch gather feedback think about it improve and relaunch and do the same cycle over and over again and that way it you're taking things out of theory and you're evolving your ideas more practically so what we just covered is essentially how to even if you didn't think you're an imaginative person how to let your imagination roam free and happen and also how to practically evolve ideas if you don't want to leave chance to imagination.
