I: Introduction

A: How to work from home productively

I want to create an outline for an article about Other. I’m not sure how to begin, what to include, or how to end. First, I need to figure out the main idea of my article. I need to know what the reader should learn and what will be my thesis statement. My thesis statement is:

To work from home and be productive, it is important to overcome procrastination through a systematic elimination of distractions and overcoming excuses.

Now that I have a thesis statement, I need to figure out what the body of my article will be like. I am going to write two examples of situations where there was equal motivation but different levels of procrastination based on time management and ability to follow through.

II: Body

A: Examples of two tasks with equal motivation but different procrastination

First, I am going to start with a few examples of situations on the job where people who had equal motivation and equal resources and ideas had different levels of procrastination. Then, I will give some examples outside of the workplace as well. Problems at work happen on a regular basis and many times we can learn from those problems and apply those lessons to our everyday life. The first example is one I experienced at work. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work as a producer on a late-night show. As soon as I graduated college, I applied for a job as a producer of a late night talk show which had been on the air for five years. After a year of application, I was finally called in for an interview. It was a grueling three-hour interview that included two writing samples, a verbal exercise, and a group exercise that had everybody working together with a leader. The job was everything that I wanted. It was a dream job and would be a great opportunity to use all of my skills and experience from college and previous jobs. When they finally offered me the job, I was ecstatic. However, I also knew that this was going to be a lot of work with very little pay at first until the show started getting viewers and advertisers. This meant that I would have to accept a small paycheck for a while until the show got off the ground. Even though this was a lot of work and very little money, it wasn’t going to stop me from being excited about the job. It is definitely my dream job. After being hired for my dream job, I began preparing for my first day as a producer. In my excitement for this huge opportunity, I decided not to tell anyone about my new job so that they wouldn’t find out where I worked so that they wouldn’t keep asking me how my new job was going or what my biggest challenge was. I didn’t want anyone else to know because it would make me feel like I couldn’t talk about it freely or disappoint them if things weren’t going well after the first couple weeks. So far, this has kept me pretty distracted because I can’t share my excitement with anyone else yet without actually letting them know where I work. This means that I can’t tell them anything about what goes on at work because then they will know where I work too early in the game before it is ready to debut on TV. By keeping quiet about this job, it is also keeping me distracted because I can’t really do much else besides plan out my first day at work and think about which projects I should work on first when I get there. Now that people know where I work, they can’t stop talking about it and asking me questions about how it is going so far because they are just as excited as I am about it. This means that now that people know where I work, these questions are keeping me distracted during the day because now everyone wants to know everything about my new job even before it has even aired once on TV. So far, this has kept me distracted enough that it has held me back from doing what needs to be done at work since I have spent more time planning out my first day at work than actually planning out my first day at work. This has slowed down my progress at work because now there is less time to accomplish everything which also means less time for me to spend learning how everything works there quickly before the show starts airing next week. This means that now I have less time to prepare myself for my first show by learning all about editing software needed for the show, finding contacts for guests, getting materials needed for the show prepared ahead of time, finding musicians to play music for our show opening scene, etc… Before being hired, almost everyone else in the office got hired within their first week at work so they could spend more time learning how everything works there instead of worrying about getting themselves prepared for their first shift there. Most people started off by learning how the industry works, getting used to their co-workers, learning about equipment needed for their position, getting ready for each shift by figuring out what needs to be done during each shift, learning how the company works including the company’s policies/requirements/etc… Now that people know where I work, everyone keeps asking me questions about what kind of feedback the producers are getting from viewers during our screenings which means I haven’t had much time to focus on learning how everything works at work until now because now everyone wants the same information at once instead of taking turns asking me questions or waiting until later in the week when everyone is watching our shows on TV… The second example is something that happened to me outside of work. Recently, my wife and I were planning our six month trip around Europe which we were both extremely excited about since we love traveling and seeing new places together. For months before leaving for Europe, we were planning our trip by finding travel blogs online that gave us suggestions on what places we should visit during our six month trip around Europe so we could decide what locations we should go to based on our interests, which cities we wanted to visit before seeing other cities especially if we wanted to see them again later in our trip, and so we could start planning our itinerary based on all these factors along with other factors like weather conditions around certain cities during certain times of year so we could decide when would best suit us if we wanted to go during those times or not… During this planning process, we were also planning our trip by trying to find cheap flights online so we could match up cheap flights with cheap hotels/airbnb rentals/etc… Now that we were making plans for our trip, we were using websites like Google Maps to help us plan out our route around Europe since we knew exactly where we wanted to go but were having trouble deciding how best to get there since we didn’t know how far apart each city was from each other or if there were any better ways of getting from point A to point B other than by plane or train or car or bus or walking… Now that we knew exactly where we wanted to go but were having trouble deciding how best to get there since we didn’t know how far apart each city was from each other or if there were any better ways of getting from point A to point B other than by plane or train or car or bus or walking… We decided not to tell anyone about where we were going nor when we were leaving so no one would try to convince us otherwise since they don’t understand why two people who already live in New York City would want to leave just to live in another country for six months… By keeping silent about this trip, it kept us distracted enough that it caused us both not to look at any other options besides flying directly from one country to another since this was easiest way for us to do it even though flying directly from one country to another was most expensive and would take longer than flying into one country and flying out of another country which would save us money and time… Now that we decided not to tell anyone about where we were going nor when we were leaving so no one would try to convince us otherwise since they don’t understand why two people who already live in New York City would want to leave just to live in another country for six months… Now most people keep asking us why we chose such an expensive option when traveling overseas since most people do not fly directly from one country to another especially if they are traveling overseas… This has caused us both not to look at any other options besides flying directly from one country to another since this was easiest way for us to do it even though flying directly from one country to another was most expensive and would take longer than flying into one country and flying out of another country which would save us money and time… This has caused us both not to look at any other
