I: Introduction

Before I start, I would like to thank you again for the great training. I was very impressed by your experience and knowledge of the subject. Looking forward to the next one!

There is lots of information about how to work from home. But not all of it is useable. For example there are several great articles on the web about creating lists, but they do not really work if you do not have a system to follow. That's where this article comes in.

This article will focus on a system that I have been using for years now. It works extremely well and has helped me to become more productive and live a productive life. However please note that this is not a plan for those who want to be rich. This is a plan for those who want to live well and be productive.

A: How to work from home productively

The first thing that I want to emphasize is that there is no magic formula for being productive. The only way to achieve a high level of productivity is by having a system that works for you. What works for someone else may or may not work for you. You have to try out different systems and find the one that works best for you. In this article I am going to give you an outline of my own system, but obviously you should make changes as necessary. If something does not work for you, change it.

Todo list Software: I personally prefer a simple text based list. I currently use a free software called Todo.txt, which I highly recommend because it is very easy to use and has a great interface. Another great advantage of a simple text based list is that you can easily export your list into any other program, including schedule programs such as Google calendar and Outlook.

Time management: The first step towards productivity is time management. The key to time management is knowing what you need to accomplish and then breaking these goals down into smaller tasks that can be easily accomplished within a given period of time.

The first step towards productivity is time management. The key to time management is knowing what you need to accomplish and then breaking these goals down into smaller tasks that can be easily accomplished within a given period of time. Task lists: The second step towards productivity is making task lists for each day and managing these task lists effectively . Every week you should create a task list for each day. This list should include all the tasks that you need to complete during the next week, including meetings and appointments with clients or other people. You should also include everything that you need to finish before the end of the week, such as writing reports, doing research, etc. It doesn't matter whether your work day starts at 8am or 10am - the most important thing is that you begin working on all tasks in your task lists immediately after you have completed your daily work activities (such as checking emails). If you are in the habit of working with task lists, then there is no excuse for starting late because your task lists are already created . The most important thing when creating your task lists is to make them realistic . This means that the tasks in your lists must be things that can be accomplished within reasonable time limits (usually less than 1 hour). Keep all tasks under 1 hour in length whenever possible. Otherwise you will just get frustrated when you don't finish all your tasks during the day. Always place the most important tasks at the top of your list so that they are the first things that you work on in the morning. As soon as they are done, move on to the next most important task until eventually you have finished all tasks in your task lists for the day . Make sure that all tasks are completed before 6pm so that you can have some free time in the evening . If you are still feeling productive after 6pm, then feel free to continue working on whatever you feel like without setting any limits . Just keep in mind that it's better to be productive for four hours than six hours . It's good to go over all of your tasks before bedtime every night . It's easier for your subconscious mind to remember what needs to be done while you're sleeping than before bedtime . This way your mind will continue working while you're asleep . If you don't think about your task lists before bedtime, then this will result in poor sleep because your mind will continue thinking about all the things that need to be done tomorrow . This will prevent you from getting enough sleep which will affect the quality of your work on the next day . Sleep is extremely important if you want to be productive because it gives your brain time to rest and recover . Don't push yourself too hard during the week or else you won't have enough energy left over for important things like family, friends, hobbies etc. If you don't have enough energy left over for families/friends/hobbies then you probably won't be able to work either . It's also very important not to overload yourself with too many tasks or else this will lead to stress which will lower your productivity . Most people waste far too much time on unimportant things during their lives so it's important not to get carried away with all sorts of unimportant projects . It's also very important not to procrastinate because this lowers your productivity . It's also a waste of time . It's much better to get things done quickly rather than putting them off one day after another . The key to success in life is being productive instead of being busy . Being busy does not mean being productive . Being productive means getting things done quickly and efficiently . The faster you finish each task, the faster you will be promoted in life . The faster you finish each job, the more money you will make in life . The faster you finish each report or assignment at school/university, the higher grade it will earn . The faster you finish each article/report/assignment at school/university, the more free time you will have in life . The faster you finish each job/assignment/project etc., the happier and more relaxed you will be in life . So finishing everything quickly and efficiently should be your main goal in life . If you spend less time working and more time relaxing then this will result in less stress in life . Stress affects countless number of people every year, so reducing stress should be one of your main goals in life . The less stressful your life becomes, the more productive you become . There are countless reasons why being productive beats being busy : Being productive consumes less time than being busy . Being busy requires extra energy (because it requires more effort) while being productive requires little or no extra energy (because it does not require much effort). Being busy lowers your productivity while being productive raises it above normal levels (if used properly). Being busy means spending more time on unimportant things while being productive means spending less time on unimportant things (and more time on important things such as family/friends/hobbies etc.). Being busy means wasting time while being productive means investing time wisely (and getting rewarded accordingly). Being busy means wasting energy while being productive means saving energy (so that it can be used later). Being busy means spending more money than necessary while being productive means saving money (which leads to financial independence). Being busy leads to stress while being productive leads to relaxation (which leads to happiness). Being busy leads to poor sleep while being productive leads to better sleep (which leads to greater health). Being busy leads to poor health while being productive leads to better health (which leads to greater productivity). Being busy leads to poor grades while being productive leads to better grades (which leads to greater income). Being busy leads to poor relationships while being productive leads to better relationships (which leads to greater rewards). Being busy leads to poor performance at work while being productive leads to better performance (which leads to greater income and job satisfaction). Being busy leads to numerous problems (such as stress, exhaustion etc.) while being productive leads to fewer problems (which leads to greater mental/physical health). So if we put all this stuff together, we see that it's much more rewarding and useful (not just easier) to be productive than it is to be busy : Productivity (being able to get things done quickly and efficiently) allows us to get promotions quicker than others who don't know how to manage their time Productivity (being able to get things done quickly and efficiently) allows us more free time than others who don't know how to manage their time Productivity (being able to get things done quickly and efficiently) allows us more money
