Video Transcription: In the next few are going to learn how to add that vintage effect to your photos this video is brought to you by our Appy Pie's Academy it's it's very trendy right now so I thought that it would be great if you learned how to do it especially that to creating it is extremely easy trust me you'd be surprised how easy it is we're going to learn two different ways of adding vintage effect you follow and those two different ways will produce a bit different effect and they will work differently in different scenarios in different photos and it will be well up to you to decide which one you want to go for but of course we will learn both of them the first one the first technique we'll use will use the adjustment layer there is called the curves and that the adjustment layer sits right here next to the levels and it kind of works like the levels but we will use it for for for creating the UH the vintage the vintage effect so the first thing that I'm gonna do as always is I'm going to duplicate my layer just like sauce I'm gonna grab the background layer and simply drag it into their new layer new layer icon down here so I'm gonna go to the level to the curves adjustment layer and like the rule of thumb when working with the curves adjustment layer if you don't want to use it for for the vintage effect is to well if you want to bring out the contrast in your image simply create like a very gentle s-curve and grab it grab this line somewhere here and bring it just a bit down but ever so slightly and this this spot and like in the mid-tones or in there in the high tones just move it just a bit up to make a very very very gentle s-curve to bring that contrast just a bit and adjust a bit more so without them without the curves and with the curves just like so however we are going to use the curves adjustment layer to create the vintage effect so let me just let me just delete it now I'm gonna add the curves adjustment layer again so I'm simply going to click on it right here and what we want to do right now is you want to soften the whole image so we want to make all the blacks camel paler kind of make them like bleached and watch how simple it is with the curves adjustment layer all we need to do is to grab this this well this button right here and simply move it just a bit so a bit up so we are making the dark spots the dark tones a bit lighter so if I just bring it all the way up I'm gonna make everything white but of course that's not what I want to do I want to soften the image and I think that maybe somewhere here this should be fine so this is how easy it is to soften the whole image up to make it to give it like a bit of a retro feeling just like so but of course different photos are gonna give you different results so if I go to another image to this to this boat image I'm gonna I'm gonna maybe I'm gonna simply duplicate this layer add the curves adjustment layer and again bring this guy up a bit to somewhere here we don't want to go too crazy with it so this is the original and this is our this is our adjustment so let me just repeat the whole process one more time and so again I'm gonna duplicate the layer and this time I'm simply going I'm gonna go I'm gonna go again with the curves adjustment layer and I'm gonna bring this guy just a bit up to somewhere here and now we can see the original and our adjustments so we we made all the blacks all the dark tones a bit well actually quite a lot lighter so we softened a whole and the whole image huh so this is the first then the easiest the super easy method of making your photos look more vintage of adding that that soft and effect to your photo so we just grab the curves adjustment layer and then move this this dark spot up to two to bleach them the dark tones just like so in the next video we are going to talk about another way of adding that vintage that retro effect to your photos it's gonna be a bit more complicated but it doesn't mean that it's gonna be difficult so just keep watching.
